What made you decide to study in the Czech Republic?

I was awarded a Erasmus+ scholarship by Hradec Kralove University through my host University(University of Ghana). I was happy for this opportunity i had and decided to make the best out of it.

Did your studies meet your expectations? How did you find the study programme, instructors, university facilities? Were there any differences from studying in your country?

There was some disparities with regards to studying in my home country. In Czech Republic, all study materials were almost uploaded online however in Ghana some are uploaded online to be accessed and some are printed by our departments to use. Also, due to the small number of students in a class, the lecturers mostly got to know each and every one and were quite gregarious. In University of Ghana, there is a study/reading room plus a library in both the student dorms and the faculties which is open 24 hours a day; however, I did not find any study room for students in the hostels here in Czech Republic. Apart from our room which we share with others, there was no other room purposely for reading. The classrooms in the faculties too can only be accessed by the lecturers.

What was the biggest surprise with regard to studying or living in the Czech Republic?

My biggest surprise here is the language! Aside school, people speak the Czech language everywhere. Communication was somehow not difficult since I mostly walked with Czech Friends and also took a Czech language course in the university so began to understand it little by little.

What was your most memorable experience or what did you enjoy most as a student in the Czech Republic?

I enjoyed the wide range of activities organised by the ERASMUS STUDENTS NETWORK. From country presentions to parties to trips etc. They were really fun. We also played football every Saturday which was full of fun

How do you think your time in the Czech Republic has helped your studies and/or your career?

Well my knowledge in political studies broadened, since I got to learn more about Scandinavian politics aside from the African politics.

Do you have any advice for students thinking about studying in the Czech Republic?

Czech Republic is one of the most condusive places to study as a student. I highly recommend it to anyone. I be glad to always study here again in the future.
