I received many offers from different companies. However, I prefer to stay in academia for now.

Master in Open Informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, CTU in Prague

The topic of my master thesis is about fast moving objects. An object is called fast-moving, if it travels a distance larger than its size in one video frame. Such objects look blurry, which complicates detection and tracking in videos. People usually try to get rid of motion blur, but we show that it gives us a lot of useful information, such as object trajectory, speed and size. Results from my master thesis were summarised in a paper presented at the German Conference on Pattern Recognition, where it received a Best Paper Honorable Mention Award.

In our research group, we also developed a demo for real-time fast moving objects detection which can be already downloaded from GitHub. Our demo can detect all fast moving objects, measure their speed and some other things. Hopefully, a version for Android mobile phones will be available at Google Play Market very soon. This application can be used for example by professional tennis players who can put their phone next to them and measure the serve speed.

Thanks to my last internship, I received an offer to study for a PhD degree at ETH Zurich, which is the best university in Switzerland and 7th best in the world. I accepted this offer and I’ll move to Zurich soon. My plans for a future career after PhD are still open. During my studies in Prague, I received many offers from different companies. However, I prefer to stay in academia for now.
