Graphic design 2, University of Jan evangelista purkyne in ústí nad labem
When I think about my university, the first that comes up is the work I was doing there a few months ago. On-campus, at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyne, I have completed my second and so far the largest wall painting. I like to come back to Ústí nad Labem, I have a lot of friends and acquaintances here. And there is a reason for that - UJEP is a great school. I would highly recommend it to all students, from my personal experience, the Faculty of Arts and Design, where I studied.
I had a passion for drawing since I was a child. My mom spotted the talent and she led me toward the art schools, to begin with, the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Prague. Then I went to Vaclav Hollar College (also in Prague), where I basically learned to work with a computer (laughs). Until high school, I have been used to working only with paper, creating and making everything by hand, which I enjoyed very much. This is probably reflected in my current work, where I like to use paper for my projects.
Then came the Faculty of Arts in Ústí nad Labem. I have studied graphic design. The programme was very open to individual student performance.
It is also good to use the opportunity to study at a foreign school under the Erasmus program. I was frankly surprised when one of my classmates did not take advantage of it. I have chosen Warsaw University of Art.
So, I have spent 13 years studying at art schools! Astonishing number! I don't regret one! (laughter)
Today I focus on illustration and its different positions. For example, illustrations for books, magazines or murals. I work with several reputable brands and non-profit organizations.
I have my own publishing house RUKAMA, under which I hope will soon be an English sequel to my successful book ALFABETA.
