What made you decide to study in the Czech Republic?
After hours of searching for master degree programmes on portal sites and comparing between different universities, I finally found one University which met all my requirements. The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague has a great reputation and notable alumni whose contributions made a great impact in the field of chemistry and engineering. Once I applied to this university, all I did in my free time was to watch travel videos of the city. Who could resist studying in such a beautiful place like Prague?
Did your studies meet your expectations? How did you find the study programme, instructors, university facilities? Were there any differences from studying in your country?
The study programme at my university exceeds all my expectations. All the courses offered for Chemical Engineering bachelor's programme are similar to the degree structure at different universities. The lecture notes and materials are given in class and available online in the e-learning portal. It is also possible to choose courses from different years and faculties as long as you have passed the pre-requisite courses. Professors at my university are very compassionate and considerate. They take time out of their own schedule to make sure you have a better understanding of the subject by arranging extra consultations if necessary.
What was the biggest surprise with regard to studying or living in the Czech Republic?
Prague is a city full of surprises. I found the transportation system extremely efficient and reliable. I was surprised by how one transport pass/card could allow you to use the metro, tram, bus, funicular and yes, even a ferry at such an affordable price!
What was your most memorable experience or what did you enjoy most as a student in the Czech Republic?
I try to make every day in Prague a memorable experience. It would be too hard to choose one moment from three years of studying here. I spend most of my time in lectures, seminars or laboratories at the University. However, I make sure to explore the city every week, discovering hidden wonders each time. How often can one say that they live/study a few kilometres away from one of the world's largest castle and the scenic bridges across Vltava River?
How do you think your time in the Czech Republic has helped your studies and/or your career?
Studying in the Czech Republic has made me more independent and confident when facing any challenges. The University prepared me to remain focused at all times and showed me a vision to pursue my academic and future career goals.
Do you have any advice for students thinking about studying in the Czech Republic?
Before applying to any university, make sure you always contact the international department of that university if you have any concerns or questions. They are always there to help and guide you through the entire application process. Studying in the Czech Republic is one of the best decisions I have made, I cannot imagine another path or another place.
