Prague University of Economics and Business - Faculty of Finance and Accounting
The master's degree programme in Finance is to combine microeconomic and macroeconomic perspectives at an intermediate level comparable to foreign quality programmes in areas such as corporate finance, public finance, banking, insurance, international finance and financial (foreign exchange) markets. The basis of the course is economic and financial theory and model-based analytical interpretation of the problems studied. The study provides knowledge of monetary economics in an open economy, the theory and practice of budgetary policy, tax theory and policy, investment decision making in the corporate sector, higher level courses in banking, insurance and analysis of the functioning of financial (foreign exchange) markets. Graduates find employment in managerial positions in financial market institutions, in all institutions of the public finance system and in corporate finance departments.
After graduation, you will be able to: - comprehensively assess the advantages and disadvantages of offered financial products, including the use of theoretical foundations for independent work with these products, - use the results of macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis in specific decision-making processes at the corporate and banking level and in the conditions of a small open economy, - assess the impact of foreign events on the domestic financial sector (including the foreign exchange market), linking economic and financial theoretical knowledge with a range of specialist skills and the latest specialised knowledge, such as knowledge of financial stability, tax theory and policy, the theory and practice of budgetary policy and advanced banking, - analyse independently (e.g. work with data, statistical tools, search for data and other specialist sources), present (e.g. formulate and defend conclusions, discuss critically) and work in a group (e.g. work through topics in groups, look for problems and solutions in groups).
The Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) is the largest economics-focused university in Czechia and one of the leading business schools in Central and Eastern Europe. You can choose from degree programmes in economics, finance, management, informatics and international relations, taught in Czech and English. During your studies, you build analytical thinking, data skills and the ability to apply theory in real-world contexts. The international AACSB accreditation confirms the quality of education at VŠE. Only a small percentage of business schools worldwide hold it. Teaching is closely linked with practice. You work on real projects with companies, complete internships and meet experts from business and the public sector as part of your courses. VŠE has an extensive network of partner universities, so you can study abroad across Europe and beyond. Graduates combine academic knowledge, language skills and practical experience. They find career opportunities in consulting, finance, IT, public administration and international institutions, often already during their studies.
