University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice - Faculty of Science
The programme is carried out in cooperation with the Technische Hochschule Deggendorf (THD) in Bavaria, where students spend one semester studying. An integral part of the artificial intelligence and data science programme is a mandatory professional internship in the commercial sector, particularly with partner companies in the region, such as Bosch, BMW, or ENGEL, which often provide students with ideas for their thesis projects. State-of-the-art artificial intelligence laboratories are available to students on both sides of the border. The language of instruction for the programme is English, and students also take an introductory course in the regional language (German for Czech students or Czech for German students). Graduates of the programme will be prepared for careers in artificial intelligence, data science, and software engineering.
Graduates of the cross-border joint MAID programme will acquire specific knowledge, skills, and competencies in the specialized field of applied computer science—artificial intelligence (machine learning methods, analysis, and prediction) and data science (data mining, data analysis, and big data processing). Their professional profile equips them with analytical thinking and the ability to define requirements in the fields of advanced neural networks, machine and deep learning methods, big data analysis, and image processing, including aspects of Industry 4.0 and, last but not least, the life sciences. Graduates will acquire these skills thanks to a robust foundation of knowledge in key areas of mathematics and computational intelligence, as well as a range of specialized skills in analysis, development, and advanced data processing, which will subsequently be applied during mandatory internships at pre-selected companies playing a key role in the labor market in the border region.
