Doctor study programme Computer Science and Engineering enables to the graduates of magister branches in the area of computer science and related disciplines to complete their studies with the highest possible education degree. Also graduates from other universities can apply if their study orientation is compatible. The entering level of knowledge of applicants is verified by an entering interview before a committee named by the dean of the faculty. The goal of the doctor study programme is to educate highly qualified experts for a scientific carrier in the area of basic and applied research, for an academic as well as commercial spheres.

Study

The graduates will gather both wider theoretical knowledge in the area of computer science, and deeper theoretical knowledge in the area of selected computer science specialization on the level of current international state of knowledge in the given scientific area. They become fluent in working with scientific journals, besides searching, understanding and permanent tracing of scientific knowledge they will be able to produces novel scientific results and publish them on the international level. They will learn correct methods of scientific work, including keeping ethical rules in science. They will be able to apply abstract concepts and models to the design of new methods of problem solving in the area of computer science, new computing systems and software. They will be able to lead smaller expert teams and cooperate with further teams not only in Czechia. They will train work on scientific projects and will play an active role in their preparation and submission. They will get teaching experience and will train how to present achieved results, namely in English. By preparation and defense of their PhD theses they prove their abilities to create new scientific results, to form them in a longer written text as well as in an oral presentation. Research areas of the doctor study programme Computer Science and Engineering are namely as follows: - Software engineering and reliability - Natural language processing, data mining - Computer graphics and its applications - Medical informatics - Distributed and embedded systems
