The aim of this four-year doctoral study programme is to educate highly qualified experts who understand machining processes, additive technologies, quality assurance, mechanical engineering technologies and materials. Students focus in particular on technological preparation of production and machining processes of complex spatial surfaces made of conventional and innovative materials, design and development of cutting tools, use of lasers in machining processes, modern and advanced machining methods, additive technologies including 3D printing and improvement of production quality processes. The programme also focuses on research and development of polymer membranes and research methods used for analyzing physical, mechanical and structural properties of these materials.

You will gain deep knowledge of automation of production processes, technology design, quality control, work rationalization, robotics, metrology and NC programming. They will become experts in cutting and the use of grinding tools and materials. They will gain an overview of experimental and advanced modern machining methods and the latest developments in machining tools. They will understand spectroscopic methods or thermal analysis and become familiar with new technologies related to material preparation, such as laser processing or quantitative thermography. They will also focus on non-destructive testing of mechanical engineering materials and structures and modelling of forming and welding processes. They will engage in the preparation of advanced ceramic materials, laser technology and modern trends in the development of non-metallic materials and gain insight into the design and properties of surface layers and plasma technology. Graduates will find employment in mechanical engineering companies and research and development departments focused on special and innovative technologies and materials. They may work as project managers or quality control specialists. They may also work in Czech and foreign university research centres focused on materials research. In addition, they will find employment in large multinational mechanical engineering companies as experts in materials engineering and advanced technologies.
