Course description:
The main aim of the One-Semester Methodological Course on Teaching Czech as a Foreign Language (on-line) is to introduce the specifics of teaching Czech as a foreign language. The course is aimed at deepening knowledge in the field of methodology and didactics with a focus on Czech as a foreign language. It includes work on pronunciation, speaking skills and grammar. The learners will receive new knowledge in the field of socio-cultural and in the field of working with realia in teaching. The focus is on the use of both classical methods in teaching Czech as a foreign language and non-traditional approaches. Learners will also become familiar with European foreign language teaching policy and current language developments in Czech.
Course content:
The course is held in person. The time allocation is 75 teaching units (hereinafter referred to as TU) per one semester.
1. GRAMMAR
a) Interpretation of grammar of more complex phenomena
b) Possibilities of parcellation of grammar
c) Signal grammar and the use of illustration
2. LANGUAGE ACQUISITION / INTEGRATION
a) Agreements and differences between teaching Czech to native speakers and to foreigners
b) Contemporary Czech
3. LANGUAGE SKILLS AND LANGUAGE FUNCTIONS
a) Basic language skills
b) Phonetics
4. GENERAL METHODOLOGICAL PROCEDURES
a) Teaching materials
b) Didactic skills of the teacher
c) Teaching unit, planning, syllabus
