Prague University of Economics and Business - Faculty of Informatics and Statistics
With its multidisciplinary focus, the Cognitive Informatics study programme meets the challenges of the rapid development in the field of IS/ICT, the need to integrate a wide range of technologies and systems, the requirements for flexibility, adaptability and resilience of systems, as well as the increasing emphasis on quality and security of systems, in sum requiring a complex and multidimensional approach to solutions, as fully confirmed by the OECD materials identifying a permanent shift in the needs of education from specialists to the so-called "versatilists". "The needs of practice, repeatedly identified in the survey "Competitiveness of IT graduates of universities and colleges in the Czech Republic", repeatedly conducted by the Department of Information Technologies.
Graduates of the program have knowledge and skills focused on: - scientifically relevant fields such as information theory, logic and semantics, neuroscience and self-organization theory, - relevant application areas of modelling, simulation, intelligent and complex systems, ontology engineering and knowledge, - other areas and phenomena that may play an important complementary role in the student's particular focus, such as project management, scientific methodology, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, management informatics, business process engineering and the environment.
The Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) is the largest economics-focused university in Czechia and one of the leading business schools in Central and Eastern Europe. You can choose from degree programmes in economics, finance, management, informatics and international relations, taught in Czech and English. During your studies, you build analytical thinking, data skills and the ability to apply theory in real-world contexts. The international AACSB accreditation confirms the quality of education at VŠE. Only a small percentage of business schools worldwide hold it. Teaching is closely linked with practice. You work on real projects with companies, complete internships and meet experts from business and the public sector as part of your courses. VŠE has an extensive network of partner universities, so you can study abroad across Europe and beyond. Graduates combine academic knowledge, language skills and practical experience. They find career opportunities in consulting, finance, IT, public administration and international institutions, often already during their studies.
