The Applied Sciences in Engineering master’s programme is a research-oriented technical field that meets the requirements of applied development in high-tech companies, leading research and development centers, and academic institutions. An integral part of the programme is a full-semester internship at a research institution or an industrial company in the Czech Republic or abroad. The program’s goal is to educate graduates with a solid theoretical foundation and practical experience in the fields of engineering physics, mathematics, computer science, measurement, and modern software and information technologies, so that they are immediately employable in research and development departments in both the industrial and academic sectors.

Study

Graduates of the AVI programme are technically trained professionals with an exceptional theoretical foundation in engineering physics, mathematics, computer science, and modern measurement and software technologies. They are capable of independent analytical thinking, can apply their knowledge to solve technical problems, formulate and present conclusions, and independently tackle tasks in science and research. Thanks to close contact with the applied sector and the completion of a semester-long research internship, students are very well prepared for careers at national and European research institutions and centers (such as ÚFP - TOPTEC Turnov, CxI TUL, ELI Beamlines, CERN), or in the development departments of the automotive, mechanical, electrical, or optical industries. A solid theoretical foundation also provides a strong basis for continuing on to doctoral studies; students may choose one of the following specializations: Optical and Laser Technologies and Measurement (optical technologies, characterization of optical elements and systems, design and application of optics in industrial and scientific applications, laser technology). Computer simulations in physics and engineering (physical principles, numerical methods, and modern software technologies for computer simulations in the mechanics of elastic bodies, fluid mechanics, acoustics, transport processes, and electromagnetism). Materials for Electrical Engineering (physical properties, manufacturing methods, characterization methods, and main application aspects of modern materials such as piezoelectrics, ferroelectrics, and metamaterials).
