English Philology is intended primarily for graduates of the bachelor’s programme English for Business Administration, who can build on their previous studies. However, it is also a good choice for graduates of bachelor’s programmes focused on the English language within philological or pedagogical study programmes, or related programmes.

A graduate of the English Philology programme has in-depth knowledge of linguistic, literary and philological disciplines, excellent practical knowledge of English at C2 level, and orientation in Anglophone literature, culture and history. The graduate is able to independently analyse and interpret specialist and literary texts, apply principles of translation, and use methodological approaches of English philology in addressing theoretical and practical problems. The graduate masters basic research procedures, can critically reflect on linguistic and literary phenomena in broader cultural and media contexts, and is able to professionally process an assigned topic using appropriate methods and specialist literature.
