Unlock your full potential with our English language programme. Achieve C2 proficiency according to the CEFR and gain expert knowledge in linguistics as well as in British and American literature and culture. You will deepen your knowledge in the fields of pragmatics, stylistics, the historical development of English, and sociolinguistics. You will become familiar with current trends in Anglophone literature and culture, and enhance your skills in interpreting texts as a literary theorist and critic. You will develop your communication skills at the C2 level and learn to think within broader cultural contexts. On top of all this, you will get an excellent foundation for your potential further studies at the PhD level.
- Submit your application for admission electronically. - In the application, select your chosen degree programme and its type, along with other required information. - Submit your application on time and ensure it is filled out correctly. - If any information is missing or incorrect, the faculty will ask you to provide the missing details. - If you do not meet the deadline, your application will be canceled and you will not be included in the admissions process.
Graduates will acquire a high level of communicative competence (C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference) and in-depth knowledge of the field, i.e., English linguistics, its structure and historical development, and English and American literature understood within broader cultural and theoretical-philosophical contexts. They are able to critically analyze both academic and literary English texts. In literary analysis, they are further able to apply various theoretical approaches. They are familiar with the context of the target culture and are able to reflect on it theoretically. They have deepened their ability to create and effectively process texts in the English language and to communicate about cultural products of the target language. They demonstrate an appropriate degree of sensitivity when working in a culturally and linguistically diverse team.
The programme is subject to tuition fees of CZK 45,000 (ca. EUR 1,800) per academic year.
