This study programme is focused on the political, economic, social and cultural development of human society from antiquity to the 20th century. You gain the basic knowledge and skills necessary for independent and critical learning about the past.

You will be provided with a basic factual overview of world history from the early Middle Ages to the 20th century and the development of historiography since antiquity. Moreover, they will learn how to write professional historical works. They will learn how to work with sources, critically approach professional literature and develop creative thinking when dealing with historical facts. You will be ready to apply for a follow-up Master’s study programme, or to find employment in institutions focused on history and culture. In addition, they gain advanced knowledge of foreign languages. You gain in-depth knowledge and skills to work in positions requiring a Bachelor’s degree in history or a related specialisation. After graduation, you can find employment in institutions focused on historical research and preservation of the historical legacy, such as museums, archives and libraries. Moreover, they can be active in culture or media. They can also work in departments of culture and monument care of regional or municipal authorities, or in the state or non-governmental sectors.
