Who are we and who are the others? What do we think and how do we act? Social and cultural anthropology examines various societies and social environments. Social and cultural anthropology is focused on social relationships, and the formation and development of human cultures. You gain in-depth knowledge of the social, cultural, linguistic, biological and material dimensions of human existence. Moreover, this study programme places strong emphasis on culture, which is to say on the economic, political, familial, religious, symbolic and environmental aspects of the life of different societies and groups. Students of this study programme have the possibility to participate in interesting internships and educational stays.

You gain in-depth insight into ethnic, biological and sociocultural processes and phenomena and will be able to interpret them. With the help of the most advanced techniques of contemporary biological, social and human sciences, you learn how to analyse both material and intangible artefacts. They will be able to carry out research activities and produce scientific texts and support thus the dissemination of anthropological knowledge. You master the English language and another world language. After graduation, you can find employment as social and cultural anthropologists, biological anthropologists, applied anthropologists, ethnologists, social and aid workers, and administrators of projects, or they can work for the state administration, the media sector, NGOs and the public sector.
