Hello, I am Ashish from New Delhi, India. After working as software developer for 5 years in an MNC in India i decided that i need to enhance my skills and learn more. I started my search to find the university which offers Masters in Computer Science or Informatics in Europe for the pure reason that it has lot of opportunities for research, if you want to continue with PhD.
I moved to Czech Republic in February 2018 to study for my master’s degree in Informatics at Mendel University in Brno. Previously, I had completed my Bachelors in Computer Application at the Manipal University, India. I was happy to study at Mendel University as i knew who Gregor Mendel was, The Father of Genetics. It was a proud feeling to clear the entrance exam and get the acceptance letter.
Studies at Mendel University are at par with any European University. We have ECTS (European credit transfer system) which is the same all over the Europe. The teacher to student ratio is perfect; we can have one to one consultation with the professors when we have some doubts in certain topics. We have our own Robotics lab and Data center. The emphasis is more on practical knowledge than theoretical which gets you ready to do things yourself.
What encouraged me most to continue my studies in Mendel University was the open and encouraging attitude of my teachers, who at all times took my research interests seriously and provided me with excellent supervision and spot-on feedback.
The Faculty of Informatics has excellent services for foreign students, staring from international contact persons to excellent supervision and support by lecturers and professors. Everything is small-scale and contacts are direct and friendly which makes it very easy to quickly feel at home. All this helped me to take part in the Hackathon organized my one of the German biggest company "Deutch Telkom" It was a great experience competing and coding for 3 continuous days with other experienced coders. We were awarded the first prize in the hackathon and also a trip to their Head Quarter’s in Bonn, Germany.
Brno as a city is very peaceful, quiet and beautiful. We can go biking, trekking, or just go for a stroll near the lake.

As Czech Republic is very Central European it gives easy access to visit other European countries. I visited France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria in my summers and got a nice experience of European culture.  I think one has to come and experience themself but i can recommend to study at Mendel to LEARN, GROW, DREAM and EXPLORE and last but not least, have FUN!
