I took a challenge and applied for a scholarships

Hi,

I am Seakling from Cambodia. Currently, I am a third-year student, majoring in Financial Management at the University of Hradec Králové.

I have grown up, as the oldest daughter, in the environment where my family and my neighbourhood greatly prioritize education. Since I was in high school, I’ve been loving competitions and opportunities. Although I was young back then, my parents said I was an ambitious dreamer. The idea of sitting on the airplane, going abroad as a scholarship holder, speaking foreign language, and studying in a foreign country indeed scared me, yet it excited and empowered me a lot. A year before high school ended, I took  the challenge and applied for various scholarships, planning to attend university abroad. Hard-working as I was, in 2017, I finally got selected to study in the Czech Republic, and that is how my study journey in the Czech Republic has begun!

Coming here was like "a dream come true" to me; it was a whole new world to explore. I was not sure how I would manage it, but I made it. Yes! Culture shock had only little impact on me as I found myself adapting quickly to the new environment, except for the fact that I felt homesick a lot. I spent my first year at the language preparation school in a beautiful town of Poděbrady, where I learnt Czech language and met a lot of wonderful foreign friends from all over the world. The time I spent there brought me one of the best experiences into my life!

In the late 2018, I graduated from the language school, prepared for University exam, and got accepted to the University of Hradec Králové (UHK), where I am now studying.

The whole journey as a foreign student studying abroad has never been easy (I suspected that); there are some ups and downs too. However, when I look back, I see the progress of how much I have grown over the years; hence, I am so thankful for being able to learn so much from the experience.

Becoming a STUDY IN ambassador, I am so excited and willing to share my journey with all the prospective students who pursue similar interests as I do.

Since it is now my last semester, I will be soon defending my thesis and hopefully wrapping up my bachelor journey. Another big journey is about to start.
