At the 2025 Taiwan–Japanese Education Expo, the networking reception of the Taiwan–Czech Higher Education Forum brought together universities, institutions, and alumni to celebrate the growing academic and cultural links between Taiwan and Czechia.

The event, co-organised by the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS), FICHET – Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan, and the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, also highlighted personal stories that show the real impact of studying in Czechia.

One such story was shared by Sia Pei-Lun, an alumnus of Masaryk University in Brno, who now works as a Marketing Advisor for the Taiwan market at Czech Tourism. His professional path demonstrates how experiences gained in Czechia can translate into building lasting bridges between the two countries.

“Czechia has always been a dream destination for many Taiwanese, almost like a fairytale country,” he explained. While Czechia is already well-known for Prague, Karlovy Vary, and Český Krumlov, his current role focuses on promoting new regions, attractions, and experiences beyond the famous “Golden Triangle.” Through social media, website management, and cooperation with Taiwanese travel agencies, he encourages more balanced tourism and stronger cultural ties.

Reflecting on his studies, Sia highlighted that Masaryk University offered a welcoming and liberal environment, which made his time in Brno one of the best years of his life despite the challenges of the pandemic. He also noted that his knowledge of Czech language, though not the main reason he was hired, has become a real advantage in his work: “It gives me strength to directly communicate with my colleagues in Czechia, which makes the working process easier and faster.”

His journey from student to tourism professional shows how education can foster not only personal growth but also deeper cooperation between Taiwan and Czechia. As alumni like Sia continue to share their experiences, they help inspire new generations of students to come and Study in Czechia, and strengthen the cultural and professional connections between the two countries.
