On May 5th, representatives from the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research had the pleasure to join the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Chișinău and co-organize and attend this year's edition of the traditional Alumni Meetup Moldova.

As per usual, the event brought together former students of several Czech universities across all variety of fields. Among the attendees were those who chose Czechia as the place for their temporary exchange programmes, as well as graduates of full-degree studies.

The informal event was opened by the ambassador Jaromír Plíšek’s heartfelt  welcome speech, and continued in a very friendly atmosphere. While enjoying a mixture of Moldovan and Czech gastronomic treats, guests (many of whom were not first-time attendees) connected over their past experiences from Czechia, and many used the space to set a foundation for future cooperation.

Over the years, the Alumni meetup Moldova has grown into a cherished tradition in Chișinău, reflecting the growth of a vibrant, active and proud Czechia Alumni community.

We also took the opportunity and asked our Alumni about their views on life and studies in Czechia.

How did studying in Czechia shape your career path?

“I studied arts with focus on graphic design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. The quality level of the programme was really high, it gave me a lot of inspiration and I gained a lot of technical and practical experience that I still use to this day. And I have a funny story about that. I was once in an interview, and I just mentioned briefly that I was an Erasmus student in Czechia, and the man who worked at the studio actually graduated from a design school in Czechia – and I ended up getting the job, because we had something in common.”  - Ana-Maria, former Erasmus student at University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem

Would you recommend to someone to go to Czechia for their studies?

“Yes, very much! I work as a teacher here, so I have a lot of comparison, and I think Czechia is very developed, so I do my best to promote studying in Czechia to my students.”  - Nina, who obtained her PhD at Czech University of Life Sciences

Why did you choose Czechia for your studies?

"I was looking through the list of partnerships that my university had with other universities. I saw Czechia, and when I was later discussing it with my parents, my mom immediately told me to go to Czechia, as she had been to Prague before, and it is her favorite city in the world. But my university had a partner school in Pilsen, so I went there, and I got to enjoy some very beautiful places in Bohemia, such as Český Krumlov, and other castles. I tried to combine studying and sightseeing as much as possible." - Mirela, former Erasmus student at University of West Bohemia.
