What made you decide to study in Czechia?
I decided to study in Czechia because of its excellent reputation for high-quality education and research opportunities, especially in science and technology. The country offers world-class programs at an affordable cost compared to many other European destinations, making it accessible without compromising quality. I was also attracted by the opportunity to live in a safe and culturally rich country at the heart of Europe.
Did your studies meet your expectations? How did you find the study programme, instructors, university facilities? Were there any differences from studying in your country?
Yes, my studies have not only met but also exceeded my expectations. My program in Technology and Agriculture 4.0 has been very forward-looking, combining advanced research in AI and computer vision with real-world agricultural applications. The instructors are supportive, approachable, and highly knowledgeable in their fields. Compared to studying in Nigeria, the Czech system places more emphasis on independent research, international collaboration, and access to cutting-edge technologies.
What was the biggest surprise with regard to studying or living in Czechia?
The biggest surprise for me was how welcoming and helpful people are, even when there is a language barrier. I was also pleasantly surprised by the affordability of student life like public transport, meals, and housing are very reasonably priced compared to other parts of Europe. Another pleasant surprise was how safe and peaceful the cities are, which made it easy to settle in and focus on my studies.
What was your most memorable experience or what did you enjoy most as a student in Czechia?
one of my most memorable experiences was participating in international research collaborations at my faculty, which also took me to Sweden where I worked with colleagues from different countries on projects involving sustainable agriculture. Outside academics, I really enjoyed exploring the beautiful historical cities like Český Krumlov, Hulboka, and Prague, as well as experiencing Czech traditions and cuisine. These moments made my student life in Czechia enriching both academically and culturally.
How do you think your time in Czechia has helped your studies and/or your career?
My time in Czechia has broadened my academic perspective and given me access to cutting-edge research in Agriculture 4.0. Working with advanced technologies like AI and computer vision in agriculture has strengthened my skills and prepared me for a career as a researcher and innovator in sustainable food production
Do you have any advice for students thinking about studying in Czechia?
My advice would be to come with an open mind and a willingness to embrace new experiences. Take advantage of the excellent academic resources and research opportunities, but also engage in Czech culture
