What made you decide to study in Czechia?
I just fell in love with the atmosphere. Prague especially felt like a city I could actually live and study in. It’s historic but very alive, that made the decision much easier.
Did your studies meet your expectations? How did you find the study programme, instructors, university facilities? Were there any differences from studying in your country?
Yes, my History studies at Charles University have mostly met my expectations. The programme is engaging and the professors encourage discussion and critical thinking, which I really value. Compared to Moldova, the system here feels more independent and demanding, but it also gives me more opportunities to grow academically.
What was the biggest surprise with regard to studying or living in Czechia?
The biggest surprise for me was the possibility to arrange my own schedule and have more freedom in shaping my curriculum.
What was your most memorable experience or what did you enjoy most as a student in Czechia?
My most memorable experience has been meeting people from all over the world. I really enjoy that as a student here I can experience Czech culture on a daily basis, while at the same time being part of a very international community.
How do you think your time in Czechia has helped your studies and/or your career?
Spending time in Czechia really helped me become more adaptable and gave me a broader understanding of how things are done in different academic and cultural contexts. It made me more open to new perspectives, which I think will be very useful both for my studies and for my future career.
Do you have any advice for students thinking about studying in Czechia?
I would advise to stay open and try new things, even events or activities that are completely outside your usual comfort zone. At the same time, make sure to keep up with your mental health and prioritize your well-being, because studying abroad can be exciting but also challenging.
