Did you read my last blog on mental health struggles in academia? Long story short, I opened up about being a victim of (what I think is) a psychological illness student epidemic — it seems everyone nowadays is stressed, depressed, anxious, or going through a rough period. In today's blog, I want to speak about ways to help me gain strength amidst the dark to show you what therapeutic activities one can do in Prague!

One of the things I do is exercise regularly. I used to follow at-home workouts from fitness influencers, but I've found that going to the gym helps me stay motivated and accountable. There are plenty of student-friendly and trendy gyms in Prague, so I suggest researching and finding one that fits your needs. I like gyms that offer affordable membership deals and are open 24/7, so I can work out no matter my schedule. I also prefer gyms with an aesthetically pleasing environment and free classes, such as body pumps or cycling. These classes are a great way to switch up your workout routine and try something new.

Regarding beauty, taking care of my appearance is another way I practice self-care. I have some go-to places for getting my brows, hair, and nails done that I would recommend to anyone in Prague. I suggest looking for places that fit your personal preferences and budget — especially an Instagram presence. My personal favourites include AStudio, NailHouse, WOW Nails, and Spell! Finding places that make you feel comfortable and offer high-quality services is essential. For example, if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, look for a salon that has a shabby-chic aesthetic and offers free drinks and snacks. If you're on a budget, look for places offering reasonable prices or special deals for repeat customers.

Incorporating exercise and self-care into your routine can be highly beneficial for your mental health. Whether going to the gym, getting your hair done, or finding other ways to take care of yourself, there are plenty of options in Prague for students. It's important to find what works for you and to prioritize your mental and emotional well-being.
