International Student and Alumni Meetup Denmark 2025

Living and studying in Czechia was an inspiring experience. Its rich culture, welcoming people, and vibrant student life made me feel at home from the very beginning.
This reflection from one of our alumni perfectly captures the sentiment shared by many international graduates whose academic paths led them through Czechia. It also set the tone for the newest Czechia Alumni gathering, this time held in Copenhagen.

The Copenhagen gathering was the newest stop in theseries of international alumni meetups organized by The Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZSin partnership with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen. This collaboration made it possible for the embassy to open its doors to alumni from across the world and create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for alumni from around the world.

On the evening of 13th November 2025, guests were welcomed by H.E. the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to DenmarkJiří Ellinger, who opened the event by emphasizing the importance of sustaining international academic bonds and celebrating the Czech-Danish ties but also the diverse community of graduates who carry Czechia in their professional and personal stories. As he noted, “And I think the community of students and alumni, that's one of the best sort of ambassadors that we could have in any country, especially and exactly here in Denmark. And for us, I think that's the added value that we could offer as the embassy for the broader Czech community here in Denmark or the broader international community here in Denmark that has some connections with Czechia.”

A warm introduction followed from Soňa Lippmann, Head of the Communication and Analytical Sector at DZS. She highlighted one of the missions of DZS and the Czechia Alumni programme to strengthen alumni communities, foster long-term connections between Czechia and its former students, and create a space where people can reconnect, exchange experiences, and find new opportunities for collaboration. She also highlighted the growing international reach of the programme and its ambition to keep developing new ways to engage and empower alumni around the world.

The evening also welcomed Lucie Felgrová, a representative of vKodani, an association supporting Czech and Slovak communities in Denmark, and Nikola Liptáková Vallmostrand, the director of the Czech Centre in Stockholm. Their presence showed how strong the connection remains between Czechia and many international friends who stay in touch from abroad.

Although the guests represented many countries, professions, and academic backgrounds, they shared a one key connection: their educational experience in Czechia. From former Erasmus students to full-degree graduates and researchers, participants exchanged memories about student life, favourite Czech cities, and how their stay shaped their careers. Representatives from Charles UniversityAldana Vlasáková, and from Czech Technical University in PragueOleg Fetisov, were also present to support and engage with the local alumni community.

A highlight of the evening was a classical music performance by violinist Lada Fedorová and pianist Ondřej Vido. Their programme included beloved Czech compositions such as Dvořák’s Humoresque, Smetana’s From My Homeland, and the Czech national anthem, bringing a touch of cultural nostalgia to the embassy halls. The concert added a nice reminder of Czech culture that many alumni know from their time in the country.

After the performance, the programme naturally transitioned into open networking. Guests connected over shared experiences, discussed their career journeys, and exchanged contacts. A friendly bingo game encouraged new introductions and helped spark conversations even among attendees meeting for the first time.

One of the participants, a medical graduate from Charles University now working at Novo Nordisk in Denmark, shared his appreciation for his time in Czechia, noting the quality of teaching, the supportive student community, and the university city itself: “It was a super experience… a beautiful city to live in, very lovely people. I’m so happy that I went there and I try to visit every year.”

The Copenhagen meetup once again demonstrated the growing strength of the Czechia Alumni community worldwide. Each event contributes to building a thriving international network of professionals who continue to represent Czechia abroad through their work, friendships, and ongoing collaborations.
